Learn To Read With Sight Words
Elementary school teachers use dolch sight words to help their students learn to read. This is a list of the most common words in the English language and many of them are not phonetic. Words such as “the” are taught to young beginning reader to make it easier for them to read sentences without having to sound out all of the words. When teachers use dolch sight words, they should also teach phonics. Teaching phonics gives students the tools they need to sound out most words on their own, without having to memorize all of the words in the English language.
